Fish Cake

Last night we had our monthly Pack meeting.  All the boys had to make a sports themed cake and bring it to the Pack meeting.
The Cisco Kid wanted to make a fish to represent fishing.
There is a straw with a gummy worm to make it look like a fishing hook.

I am going to start out by saying that The Cisco Kid wanted to win the auction for his cake. I told him that the bid would probably start at ten dollars and he could bid as high as $16.00. The Auctioneer asked the boys what they think their cake is worth and the Cisco Kid said $16.00. So that is where the auction started. She then said.... any one for $17.00 and someone raised their number. Then she said $18.00 and the Cisco Kid just looked at me like, I want to bid mom!! Can I go higher! I gave him the waive to go ahead. The bids went back and forth from The Cisco Kid to another gentleman. The cake went from $16.00 to $18.00, then TCK bid 19.00, then 20.00 to a gentleman. TCK 22.50, I gave TCK the signal for that was enough bidding. The gentleman grabbed the cake for $25.00.
This picture shows The Cisco Kid Shocked that someone else was bidding against him.
The gentleman that won. He was the Auctioneers husband
That was a fun evening.  We raised 611.00 auctioning off the cakes.

Easter Bunny Cake

The Cisco Kid and I make an Easter Bunny Cake every year.  I got the pan from Wiliam Sonoma. It is a very large egg shape with front and back of the bunny.  When you put both sides tether you have an easter bunny.

Game cakes

Every year the Cub Scouts Raises money for a charity. This year we had a cake Auction for the American Cancer Society. We had a professional auctioneer that did a great job auctioning off our fifty cakes.
We made a Mario Brothers cake and a Candy Land Cake.

The Mario Brothers cake was a vanilla cake with chocolate icing layers. All the figurines are made out of molding chocolate.

It was very funny watching the auction. Each scout went up and described their cake. They stayed up there with the auctioneer. She started every bid at $10.00. The boys were so excited to see how much their cakes would sell for. At the beginning of every cake auction one or two paddles would raise committing to the auctioneers price. When it came time for The Cisco Kids Mario cake, the auctioneer started out with the normal $10.00 bid, and then the fun began. There were at least twenty paddles that quickly raised. The auctioneer had a look of shock on her face and she immediately started to increase the cake by $10.00. The Auctioned ended and it sold for $80.00.

The Cisco Kid loves to play Mario on WII so I decided to make a cake that I loved to play as a child.  I loved Candy Land.   The Cake is vanilla with a colorfull layer of icing in the center. The Candy Land Cake auctioned off for $50.00.

We raised a total of 1,300.00 for the American Cancer Society.

A jungle birthday cake

Every year I make The Cisco Kid a very special Birthday Cake.  This year it was all about the Jungle theme and Zip line.

I had Publix make the cake and decorate it with the grass and water. I then molded all the Alligators, snakes, bananas and rocks out of chocolate. I had no idea how to mold chocolate like play dough so I decided to do an experiment.  I added equal parts of flour to melted chocolate bark.  It became the consistency I was looking for. I then added food coloring and made all the decorations. For the palm trees, I used pretzel sticks. I then piped leaves on top to create a Palm tree. I printed out a picture of The Cisco Kid zip lining and glued it on a piece of cardboard. He loved the idea hanging in the air above the Alligators mouth.

Fire House Cake

Every year I make a special themed cake for the Cisco Kids Birthday. He loves everything about the fire department. He asked if there was a Scooby Doo firefighter. Sure enough, when I got on the internet and googled Scooby Doo Fire Man, those figures came up. We thought they were perfect.

He specifically wanted the truck tipped over with flames coming out of it and a house on fire. I had Publix make the basic cake with a road and the flaming house. We added the Truck, pretzels to look like wood and Scooby Doo.

When he was turned six.
